Top 5 Tips To Survive Coachella

Festival season is approaching and we’ll be kicking it off with this year’s Coachella. After a two year break, fans and artists are ready to hit the desert and have a weekend filled with music and friends. If you’ve been to any sort of music festival before, you know how important it is to set yourself up for success.

Whether you’ve been going for years or this will be your first time at the arts and music festival, check out our top 5 tips to make the best of Coachella and make it a weekend to remember and check out playlist below.

1. Make a plan but be flex

This year’s lineup is incredible, and there’s no doubt that tough decisions as to what set to catch will be made. Once the schedule is out, make a loose plan of who you’d like to see each day and take into account what stage they’re at. Maybe you want to catch 20 minutes of a set at the Mojave tent before heading next door to something at the Gobi tent. If you’re only on planning for a small amount of time at a bigger stage like the Outdoor stage, maybe stay towards the back and don’t get into the thick of the crowd. Sometimes sets start late, lines for the bathroom might take long or you just really end up vibing at a random set you stumbled upon - have your priorities but be prepared to go with the flow.

2. Send texts, not iMessages

You’re meeting up with a friend but your text won’t send - we’ve all been there. Avoid sending iMessages altogether and send texts for a better shot at getting your text through. When you send your message, hold it down and click “sent as a text message”. No more misses meet-ups - you’re welcome.

3. Wear lightweight and comfortable shoes

We know you wanna break out your brand new Doc Martens, but just remember how much you’ll be on your feet. Coachella is NOT the weekend to break in any pairs of shoes, and ideally, you want lightweight, comfortable shoes that can give you support all weekend.

4. Plan for the cold evenings

While you’ll be sweating in the sun in the daytime, remember that Coachella is in the desert, aka it’ll get really cold at night. While you may think the crowd will protect you from the cold and you’ll be fine in your little summer outfit, when you’re waiting in line to get back hold, you’ll wish you brought a jacket. Bring a warm outfit to change into or at the bare minimum a jacket so you can keep on vibing late into the night.  No need to worry about carrying around your extra clothes all day - save yourself and get a locker on the festival grounds.

5. Bring the essentials

Lightweight bag, portable charger/cords, mask/bandana for the dust, glasses for the sun and dust, gum, credit card, film camera, hand sanitizer. Add in a fan if you’ve got the space.
