THEY'RE DREAMY, THEY'RE CHARMING - THEY'RE THE ORACLE SISTERS. The creative group brings a unique line up to the table, consisting of long time pals painter Lewis Lazar and mathematician Christopher Willatt as well as musician Julia Johansen. The artists have forged both a creative etherial sound and visual to their name. Today the band debuts their music video for "Spotlight", which follows the crazy world of Parisian drag queens. Do your eyes and ears a favor by checking out the video for "Spotlight" and read on to hear more about the video and what's next for the Oracle Sisters.

LUNA: How did the concept behind the "Spotlight" video come about?

ORACLE SISTERS: The idea was to do the Parisian cabaret version of a traditional ‘club night’ hip hop video but using drag queens and a cast of characters we knew in Paris. We used inspiration from ‘the warriors’ and street gangs from the Bronx for the jackets. We also wanted to include a pseudo futuristic element..we also wanted a gang of roller skating girls but that never happened sadly. Throughout that we tried to show a series of movements about love and redemption, temptation, fertility and desire.

LUNA: Can you talk a little bit about the creative & filming process of the video?

OS: The video was a collaborative effort between friends..Terence Connors from New York happened to be in Paris when we had this idea shelved..he offered to shoot it the next day as he had a 16mm camera in his hotel room with 6 rolls of film. So we set about doing it the following night. Victoria Lafaurie, a French director, came in to help and see through the project. A lot of the scenes were improvised, some were written before. Philipe, the star drag queen, learned the lines on the spot. It was a dance of chance and happenstance and acting on ideas impulsively although with a lot of help from our friends.

LUNA: How would you compare the music in your upcoming EP with music that you've previously worked on?

OS: We’re just trying to get better all the time, we’re interested in writing good songs that have the stuff of life in them...the spice of life and that we give honor to that. At the end of the day I don’t think we want to repeat ourselves with any songs we do or releases we have coming up. It’s going to evolve naturally as long as we love it.

LUNA: How important is tying in a visual side to your music?

OS: I was about to say..it’s very important, we all draw in the band and Lewis has been working as a visual artist on and off throughout his musical career, so there is always a visual emphasis and element to the journey or as an extension of what we’re trying to convey in feeling and atmosphere.

We all love films and auteur cinema when you can feel the artist is present throughout every step of the process.

LUNA: What's next for y'all?

OS: We’re going to tour in Europe a little, release a few more songs and do our album in Mexico City with our friend Adan Jodorowsky..I think we’d love to come and serenade America sometime too.
