DECEITFUL DEEDS MEET THEIR MATCH AND KARMA DELIVERS ITS VERDICT – Alt-pop sensation Dela Kay has just unveiled her latest single, “Saving Face,” marking the fourth release from her eagerly anticipated upcoming EP. This track promises a thrilling experience with its blend of upbeat rhythms and cheeky lyrics, characteristic of the songstress’ vibrant style.

“‘Saving Face’ is about that person in your life getting their karma,” Kay says. “Once they've dug their own grave of lies or BS, there's no way they're getting out of it, aka no way they're ‘Saving Face.’

The single stands out with its infectious energy and bold, unapologetic attitude. Drawing heavily from pop-punk influences, “Saving Face” is infused with the edgy and dynamic sound that fans have come to expect from Dela Kay. Its punchy beats and clever lyrics ensure that this track will resonate with listeners, providing a roller coaster ride of emotions and an anthem for those seeking a bit of musical karma.

Crafted in collaboration with her trusted producer and co-writer Stefano Pigliapoco, along with co-writer Nick Cozine, the song packs a punch with its in-your-face attitude. The creative process behind “Saving Face” was a whirlwind of excitement and synergy.

“This song is a testament to embracing authenticity and standing firm in the face of adversity,” Kay says. “Super excited about this song and can't wait for my fans to hear it.”

LUNA: Thank you for sitting down and talking to Luna. Our readers would love to get to know you and your music more. For any readers who aren’t familiar yet, what inspires your artistic style and creative persona?

DELA KAY: I would say what inspires me as an artist is anything that feels raw and vulnerable, yet loud and electric. I love living in the alt scene and I’m so excited to let fans, old and new, get to know this new sound I have as an artist and what projects I have moving forward.

LUNA: What artists inspire you, whether that’s artists you listen to or pull inspiration from sonically or lyrically?

DELA KAY: Green Day, Avril Lavigne, The Maine, Paramore, WILLOW to name a few. Also Stevie Nicks will forever be an icon in my eyes. I grew up a big Fleetwood Mac fan.

LUNA: Say if someone hasn’t heard of your music yet, which song would you introduce to them that best encapsulates your sound and artistic maturity?

DELA KAY: If someone hadn’t heard my music yet, I would probably play them “IDWTAY” or one coming off my upcoming EP that will be the title track. But I feel like “IDWTAY” is just the perfect song of the lane I’m trying to go down sonically.

LUNA: Your latest single “Saving Face” just released. The title itself already implies a rollercoaster of emotions. What is the inspiration behind the single?

DELA KAY: The single is an ode to my haters or anyone who did me dirty. When their lies and BS catch up to them, there’s no way they can “save face” as long as I continue to live in my truth. And in turn, making a fool out of me ended up making themselves a fool. It’s such a fun, cheeky uptempo song and we honestly had so much fun making it. I always dreamed of having a song like this, that felt very pop-punk and I absolutely love it and hope my fans are loving it too!

LUNA: What did the creative process for “Saving Face” look like?

DELA KAY: We came into the studio and started a track based off of things we had been listening to recently and kind of feeding off the vibe we were in. Once we locked in the track, I did a bunch of melody passes til we chose the strongest fit to write to. By the time we got to that point the lyrics were already starting to come out.

LUNA: You previously touched on “Saving Face” being about a specific person in your life getting their karma. What advice do you have for listeners who are navigating this situation?

DELA KAY: Always be a good person. Live in your truth. Don’t let people’s BS, lies or poor behavior trick you into thinking you deserve it. People tend to treat others how they feel about themselves. As long as you stay true to who you are and have a good heart, they will never be able to “save face” to those around them.

LUNA: “Saving Face” is your fourth single off your upcoming debut EP. What can listeners expect from you in this new era of music?

DELA KAY: Lots more alt leaning music, and probably more pop-punk music. High intensity sounds but also a lot more heartfelt songs too. Got a bunch of mixtures coming your way to soothe all your feels!

LUNA: What is your favorite song from the EP and why do you love it? Is there a certain lyric or message that stands out to you the most?

DELA KAY: Probably the title track of the EP (which can’t be revealed yet). But it truly encapsulates my journey thus far, overcoming adversity and seeing the light. Super proud of that song and for my fans to hear it.

LUNA: What kind of atmosphere or emotional space do you aim to create for your listeners?

DELA KAY: I want to create an atmosphere of safety to be able to feel all kinds of emotions. My music is high energy but a lot of it is also deep, heartfelt and vulnerable. I want my fans to feel excited and comfortable to explore their emotions with me and hopefully bond over these songs.

LUNA: How are you feeling in this current era of your career and what does the rest of the year look like that you would like to share with Luna?

DELA KAY: It gives me so much excitement and hope for the future. These songs and this EP is truly the jumping off point for what’s to come with my upcoming projects and I’m so excited to be able to close this chapter with these songs and celebrate them with my fans. After this EP I plan to play live more and have a lot more music coming, so stay tuned.
