LUNA: How has your previous background in Finance and business played a role in your fashion career?

EDWARDS: It’s the solid foundation of knowledge that’s necessary for creating a profitable business enterprise. It also at times guides my creativity. I’m often amazed at the direction my designs take when I’m mindful of pricing and cost. An early piece called the Lock-Top is an example. I used readily available hardware instead of pursuing customized traditional apparel closures.

LUNA: You’ve been able to work with incredible talent from Noah Cyrus to Migos over your career - in what ways have you seen your style and design evolve?

EDWARDS: I ultimately want Gorjeti to be invited by the French Chamber of Industry to be an official haute couture design house member. I watch for hours the videos demonstrating how Dior and Chanel design and produce clothing. The whole process and craftsmanship are so beautiful from start to finish. I want to be in that atmosphere surrounded by that kind of beauty! My design evolution is fueled by this goal.

LUNA: Tell us more about the making of your most recent collection.

EDWARDS: The Flower Bomb Collection is a celebration of feminine strength, sex appeal, versatility and power in individual expression. It’s inspired by my love for flowers and a great bottle of wine. The biodegradable fabrications are cork and a custom fabric made from processed flower buds. The silhouettes are crop jackets, miniskirts, spaghetti strap tops, corsets and jeans. Accessories include mini/maxi tote bags, obi belts and bucket hats. The pieces are available for sale exclusively on our website.  Stylists can pull them from @pr_solo.

LUNA: What’s a recent piece of yours that you are most proud of?

EDWARDS: I’m in love with the flower bomb corsets. It’s not only a visual delight but it also tantalizes your sense of smell. It transforms you into a walking flower orchard.

LUNA: Where do you see Gorjeti going in the upcoming few years?

EDWARDS: I see Gorjeti making progress toward being an established trendsetter for unique statement pieces that get passed down for generations.

LUNA: Who/what have you been inspired by lately?

EDWARDS: Lately, my inspiration comes from my three children. My daughters are creatives and business owners.  They are also the creators of a monthly pop up @blackxtheblock where I go to sketch out design ideas.  My son is an artist, and his use of color is a spark for me.

LUNA: What positive changes would you like to see in the fashion industry?

EDWARDS: I would like the fashion industry to thrive on a business model that reduces or eliminates any harmful impact to the environment and eliminates the exploitation of production workers.

LUNA: As we approach fall and the year starts to wind down, what can we expect from you for the rest of 2021?

EDWARDS: We are preparing to drop our Fearless Collection. It’s a celebration of those who pursue their dreams.  They are bold, self-assured, composed, calm and pronounced. The esthetic of the collection embodies these qualities.  It features pieces constructed from cable knit that can be paired with the pieces from the Flower Bomb collection.
