BLENDING A COLORFUL ARRAY OF SOUNDS - New York-based Araya effortlessly brings together a multitude of elements with his latest track “Archon”. Produced by Y2K, known for working with artists like Doja Cat and The Kid LAROI, “Archon” highlights a fuller production undertone throughout the track while bringing in Araya’s emotive vocals. Touching on vulnerable topics of poor self-esteem and the journey in accepting one’s sexuality, the track offers a more sensitive side of Araya’s music.

Paired with a cinematic video directed by Nolan Zargas, “Archon” is able to further showcase Araya’s interests beyond his music itself by bringing in his background in fashion, design and his love for cinematography. Araya has allowed his time in quarantine to serve as an opportunity to get deeper with his music and approach his work in a more intentional way. His new music finds itself at the intersection of vintage, charming sounds and more groundbreaking, futuristic elements.

With “Archon” serving as just a taste of Araya’s album out next year listeners already know they are gonna be in for a treat. Read below to learn more about the making of the track, what Araya has in store for the rest of the year and more.

LUNA: Now that summer has winded down and we’re getting into the fall, how are you doing these days?

ARAYA: I’m feeling a lot happier now that summer is over, I think fall has always been my favorite time of the year because it makes me want to be outside more.

LUNA: Congrats on the release of “Archon”! The track has a really emotive feel to it and an incredible video - can you share a little bit about the writing process of this track?

ARAYA: I met with a really talented producer in LA called Y2K, as he began to construct the beat we spoke about sonic themes and as while he was making the beat I was already writing, everything came together pretty quickly once we got started.

LUNA: Your music always encompasses a lot of elements yet always has such a solid flow to it - sonically, what’s your favorite element in “Archon”?

ARAYA: My favorite element in “Archon” is definitely the vocals switching from distorted to normal.

LUNA: Which set of lyrics are you most proud of in the track?

ARAYA: I’m most proud of the second verse and the chorus!

LUNA: Nolan Zangas directed the video with you and it serves as a terrific addition to the visuals you have out. What was it like working with him and bringing the visual side to life?

ARAYA: Working with Nolan was a lot of fun, the shoot day was extremely long but we all powered through & I’m really happy we managed to give the song the visual it deserved.

LUNA: What color do you most associate with “Archon”?

ARAYA: Blue.

LUNA: How do you think your love for one creative avenue, like fashion and design, plays into your other creative interests?

ARAYA: I believe that my creative perception plays a relative role in my life as I try to apply it to everything thing that I do.

LUNA: Best pizza spot in New York?

ARAYA: Scarr’s Pizza.

LUNA: With “Archon” now out, what can we expect from you in the upcoming months?

ARAYA: Much more music and visuals! I have an album coming out early next year, with more singles releasing throughout the rest of this year. Also shows too, I’m performing in LA with DAISY on Nov 6 @ The Troubadour and I have a headline show December 1 at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn.
