Susannah Joffe - “In Your Room”

Singer-songwriter Susannah Joffe is contending for a slot in your end-of-summer and coming-of-age playlists with her new single, “In Your Room.” Like a bonfire with your closest friends that turns into an impromptu dance party, the song starts off pensive, melancholy and muted and becomes an impassioned indie pop/rock groove. Joffe wrote the song as a bittersweet ode to female friendship, and brought it to life with the help of producer and drummer Josef Kuhn, who works with fellow rising artist Annie DiRusso. With lyrics about time fleeting, drunken nights, and childhood street signs, this nostalgic bop will tug at your heart strings and serve as a solid soundtrack to the rest of your late night summer drives.

JEEN - “Chemical Emotion”

This week, JEEN’s new single “Chemical Emotion” has arrived as a late, but worthy addition to your summer rotation. Inspired by the Hunter S. Thompson quote “buy the ticket, take the ride,” JEEN writes a song that’s all about “letting yourself drift in the flow of everything and hanging on as hard as you can to what makes the shitty parts more tolerable.” Give the song a listen at your own risk, given it’s likely its hook will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

Widows Gold - “I Can’t Help You”

Rife with the all too familiar tentative energy of a new relationship, “I Can’t Help You” finds Widows Gold meeting new highs in their passionate rock set up. The bridge pleads “Every time you look my way / my head starts spinning / don’t you feel the same?” before leading into the anthemic chorus that struggles with the uncertainties flying in the new flame. Sonically, “I Can’t Help You” features expressive guitar lines, irresistibly groove-inducing bass, and harmonic vocals that feel both nostalgic and new with each beat. With such a delightful blend of retro and modern sounds, Widows Gold has the potential to reach audiences both new and old with their explosive energy and passionate lyricism. The project’s debut album Love Drops is set to release in January, so be on the lookout for the rising stars of Widows Gold!

Jinja - “Speak Up”

On Sept. 9, Jinja released “Speak Up”, the first single of her upcoming EP Dream House FM. Her first singles have both aligned with the seasons in which they have been released. “Astronaut Man”, which came out in December, is a darker sound reminiscent of lonely love and black holes, while “Speak Up” is a summery love song dedicated to the men in her life that she loves, encouraging them to speak up about their feelings instead of letting toxic masculinity get in the way of expressing themselves. Inspired by artists such as Destiny’s Child and Lauryn Hill, Featuring artist Ose, “Speak Up” is a smooth R&B track with steady, upbeat fingerpicking and soulful lyrics such as “Anywhere you want, we can just talk; you can be honest when it comes to me.”

Wise John - “Mr. Love”

Featuring a Hammond B3 organ, two saxophones, and a six-voice backing choir, Wise John’s latest release “Mr. Love” is a pleasure to unravel. The single is soulful and spirited, and John’s Mr. Love figure is the ultimate friend in downcast days: “Who ate all your sad day sorrows? Only Mr. Love can do.” The song and music video were recorded in Brooklyn, New York with artist Elise Trouw and producer Quinn Devlin (Quinn Devlin and the Bridge Street Kings). The Mr. Love Sunset Show, John’s upcoming project, is described as “a retro love song EP”, and “Mr. Love” is one part of what fans can expect.

Sonic Løland - “Lost”

Float into the blissful world of Sonic Løland with their latest track “Lost”. The Norwegian musician Anders Løland layers sweet vocals with a charming melody that quickly finds a place in your head after just one listen. An uplifting tone, “Lost” is perfect for our transition from a summer of fun into a more reflective fall season.Sonic Løland highlights his skills both as a musical artist and lyricist with their latest track. A perfect balance of a smooth indie track that relaxes you and one that leaves you hanging onto each note, “Lost” makes a perfect addition to your rotation of tracks.

Jadu Jadu x TAMBALA - "In My Eyes"

Love is in the eye of the beholder, or so they say right? In their new single and video, Jadu Jadu and TAMBALA show us that love, like life, looks different for everyone. The listener is drawn in by the smooth but rhythmic flow of a beat that feels both simultaneously fresh yet familiar, while the visuals step in time with the tune, unfolding a new take on the “classic” love story before our eyes. The video, directed by Elizabeth Godar, centers around three unique narratives that paint the perfect picture for what the song is trying to say, all documented of course by our third-party observer and extraordinarily talented street photographer, Chloe Pang. The crackle of vinyl on the track brings an element of intimacy as we take a peek into the lives of the three couples who have seemingly found themselves in each other, for the better. With its release, “In My Eyes” officially ushers in cuffing season, putting all of us in the mood for love of the most tender and sweet variety.
