Tai Verdes - “we would have some cute kids.”
Tai Verdes returns with a whimsical daydream and love song “we would have some cute kids”. The singer gazes over the face of someone who they’ve just fallen in love with at first sight and longingly daydreams of a life where they would simply put, have some cute kids. About a week and a half after the release, the song has already gained over half a million streams on Spotify and received a great response from his fans commenting that the music video brings a sense of nostalgia and relatability.
This song is the latest single release from Verdes as he teased the completion of his album. Fans and others in the music industry can excitedly await Verdes’ official album announcement.
Rosie Tucker - “Habernaro”
Rosie Tucker, the LA-based singer-songwriter, just announced their third album Sucker Supreme with Epitaph Records. Their debut single from the new album “Habernaro” is a force to be reckoned with. The track is on the feelings of aching for self-discovery and self-redefinition, exploring the themes of breaking through to yourself.
The three-minute track is eluded with heavy guitar fills, dramatic lyricism, and the accumulation of emotional resistance. Tucker’s new record is one that many of us are ready to digest, but we have “Habernaro” to tie us over until then.
Cy - “My Name Next To Yours”
The indie-pop queen, Cy, is the DIY solo project of the 26-year-old Swedish songwriter Amanda Cygnaeus. Her debut single “My Name Next to Yours” is now ready for the world to fall head over heels for. The track was written as a post-breakup reminder to leave the past behind. The overall tone is empowering, calling for self-respect while pondering on the past. The guitar-driven melodies are somber while exploring the styles of alt-R&B and rock all in one breathe.
Cy commented on her process for creating the track: “I wrote it after my first real heartbreak, back when me and my ex-girlfriend broke up. I have a tendency to either romanticize the past or worry about the future, so this was a way of reminding myself of what the relationship was really like and the fact that she ditched me. Kind of "how dare you?" but at the same time feeling okay cause you know that you just weren't right for each other. I had built up those emotions for a while, so the song literally flew out of me.”

Lord Huron - “Mine Forever”
Lord Huron are coming back with their fourth album, LONG LOST, out on May 21st. With a new single out from the album, “Mine Forever,” is just what we needed to fall back in love with the sweet melodies and vocals. The single starts off with a low guitar tune that makes you feel like you’re in an old cowboy film while a string instrument fills the song with a spell of comfort. The band has been teasing the announcement of the new album on their livestream series, Alive from Whispering Pines, where they play some old songs, some new songs and have conversation. vern matz - “Funny Water”
“Funny Water” creates a sense of slow motion with a feel of rushing wind. vern matz is an indie-folk duo with character and oddness. They describe their music as, “slanted and enchanted: a modern love note to 90s slacker jams and lost loves.” Which is pretty true to them. “Funny Water” is the kind of song you’ll be playing over and over on a sunny slow day where you’ll feel this hint of comfort but nostalgia. It’s full of everything we love: sweetness, melancholy and heart warming vocals. This is the kind of song you’ll listen to and immediately add to a playlist or share with your friends. Tim Ayre - “Mexican Holiday”
The feeling of nostalgia and giddiness seep into the sound and visuals of Tim Ayre’s newest single release, “Mexican Holiday”. Ayre cheerfully tells the listener about a trip to Mexico to look for his friend that never ended up happening due to the pandemic. He modeled an optimistic melody accompanied by a vintage and warm Lyric Video directed by Ollie Birt, to round off his project.
The dreamy alt-pop song “Mexican Holiday”, was taken off Ayre’s upcoming EP Modern Life set to be released later this year. Fans can expect more soon as the singer/songwriter prepares for a big year of sharing music.
Pushpin - “APPLE”
With musical inspirations such as MGMT, Vampire Weekend and Squid, South London band Pushpin releases their second single, “Apples”. This quirky and unique, experimental song has received a lot of acclaim in the UK airwaves, appearing on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio London and BBC Introducing. All these features have been building up their traction and they have been described as “the ones to watch for 2021”. “Apples” is filled with exciting sounds that all seem to mesh well and come together to create this masterpiece of blended elements and stellar harmonies that blow your mind.
Michal Leah - “Bitter”
There's no sweeter feeling than writing a song about someone who did you dirty and having it resonate with other people. In Michal Leah’s “Bitter” she sings about believing in someone and trusting them, only to find out their intentions aren't pure - and it feels like your heart has been put in a blender. With a rosy upbeat sound that opposes the sharp lyrics that you can belt out in your car, Michal expresses the temporary feeling of anger caused by that specific person. In her lyrics, she uses very distinct scenarios where she's able to be an identifiable voice to the listener who can find themselves relating to them to a T.
Fake Dad - “Listen”
Starting off with a voice recording that already keeps you curious and then introducing Andrea de Varona’s strong yet silky vocals. “Listen” is a balance between emo R&B and dark disco, a combination we didn’t know we needed. The mesmerizing song is about listening to the universe, accepting what you don’t and can’t know. An ego death you want, but still wanting to vibe and not lose yourself. “Listen” is their last single off their upcoming debut EP, Old Baby, coming out in April! Keep an ear out and listen to “Listen,” you won’t be disappointed,
Volleyball - “Escape”
Some new summer adventure music was released by Volleyball just in time for the warm weather! Following a string of tracks released leading into summer 2021, the band shared their third DIY psych single “Escape”. Written around a zen metaphor, the music encapsulates the idea of the present moment flowing like water with a wake behind it that fades; a great river of time.
Volleyball is also printing a limited run of a zine and plans to play live in London amongst other things to come soon. The band’s DIY psych feel should be on everyone’s radar for the future as their music beings to gain more traction and summer 2021 begins to near.
Nik Dandelion - “Circles”
Nik Dandelion effortlessly captures the thrilling emotions of being with someone you really like in his new track “Circles”. However, he gets it in a realistic way where one knows this could end up in a fallout, but Nik spins that meaning and makes it so they want to go through everything with that person. Imagining all the ups and downs of a relationship that drive you insane, but are weighed out by all the pretty memories that will be built. Even if it means going in circles. With smooth guitars and catchy lyrics that will be stuck in your head for the rest of your day, Nik makes this short but sweet song have a lasting effect on its listener.
Daragh - “Ordinary, Loud & Cheery”
Daragh sings with heavy emotion in his newest song “Ordinary, Loud & Cheery”. The 24-year-old producer and songwriter wistfully sings about wanting to be better/smarter but will never be an Ordinary, Loud and Cheery boy like others want him to be. Pouring out his emotions in his newest track, Daragh creates a relatable and comforting song for those who feel similarly.
This is Daragh’s Sixth single release and first single off his upcoming EP. The Producer from Dublin Ireland, currently based in Norway, brings relatable and chill late-night music to the scene and listeners should excitedly await his next single.
