Now Listening: This Week's Tracks

BENEE - “Happen To Me”

BENEE’s new single, “Happen To Me,” is a slow and entrancing song differing from her usual upbeat and groovy songs. “Happen To Me” emits warmness and haziness making it a wonderful song to get lost to. As BENEE sings about isolation and uncertainty, there’s a fuzziness around it with her vocals and the sweet guitar melody. The New Zealand singer grew her fame after her song “Supalonely” blew up on Tik Tok, gaining her a big fan base and a place in indie bedroom pop ranking. Although these songs are full of upbeat energy, “Happen To Me” is a different sound for her. But it’s a sound that still has her style and fits her so well that we’ll be playing “Happen To Me” over and over again. It’s a song that leaves us excited to see what else she has under her sleeve.

Tim Atlas - “Wallflower”

A catchy yet nostalgia-inducing tune, Tim Atlas’ “Wallflower” is, in the musician and multi-instrumentalist's own words, a “3 minute dance break from the world.”

The song, with unmistakable sounds of R&B and bedroom pop, blended with woozy atmospherics, creates an experience that transports you to a different time.

With two acclaimed EPs, All Talk and Together Lonely, Atlas has amassed over 40 million streams across platforms, and gained support from Zane Lowe on Beats 1, BBC Radio 1, EARMILK, CLASH, among others. He is currently recording his forthcoming EP, released on Nettwerk Records.

I don’t speak French - “Stay together for the kids”

The psychedelic indie-rock band I Don’t Speak French releases their new single, “Stay Together For The Kids,” an indie-rock meets lo-fi sweetness song. This is their third single since their comeback in 2020 and “Stay Together For The Kids” really ties up their sound. The band likes to experiment and explore new sounds while also blending in their own style. “Stay Together For The Kids” is a lo-fi, slow tempo song that almost sounds like it's on loop on a tape recorder, giving it that feeling of comfort that will linger after the song is done. The lyrics talk about the melancholy of a relationship that has gone down the drain. Even though the lyrics are a little sad, the enthusiastic vocals and upbeat tune comfort you to tell you that it’ll be okay.
